The youth workers in NRSDC's Switch program have hit the road this week in a travelling road show. They are visiting all of the FaCS and non-government agencies in the North Coast region to spread the news that with early intervention and support through the Switch program, young people can be helped to avoid homelessness, particularly those who are transitioning from government care into independent living.
|
"A lot of the agencies we are visiting are potential referrers and we've been outlining the finer points of the Switch early intervention program to them as well as the services we offer and the areas we cover," Switch program manager, Damian Bozanic said. "So far the reception has been very positive with five referrals received."
On their travels, the Switch program's new trainees have been meeting with young people and will soon be engaged in mentoring and assisting caseworkers with case planning. The trainees, which include two Indigenous trainees, have also been active in attending network meetings to promote the Switch service and agency as well as gaining knowledge of services in the region.
