ACE Community College in Byron Bay is offering a Business Mentoring Program for young entrepreneurs and business owners in the Northern Rivers.

 The Mental Health Coordinating Council will be conducting essential training for all community workers in Lismore in March: Mental Health Connect – mental health recovery and recovery-oriented practice training for community workers

A new Mindfulness in Education program is being launched in the Northern Rivers area on 24th & 25th February. 2012.

The Term 1 Groups program from Interrelate Family Centre is now available.

 Brighter Futures Early Intervention Program in conjunction with the Education Centre Against Violence will present their “Practical Skills in Responding to People who Experience Domestic Violence” program on the North Coast and some vacancies are available for other agencies.

 The Family Centre has relased its program for Term 1, 2012.

 The  YWCA Parent Education Program, in partnership with the Men and Family Centre will be running  anew course  for dads interested in strengthening their relationships with their child/ren.

 Current and emerging managers from the community sector are invited to engage in a 'Leadership in Action'  dynamic and unique course based on Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence theory. This course will provide a variety of useful and practical tools which will increase effectiveness as a manager and enhance leadership skills.

A 'Boundaries' facilitated group for women will commence in February with Women Up North Housing Inc.

The 'Breaking Free' Women Exploring New Directions group for women who have experienced violent or abusive relationships will commence in February through the Men & Family Centre Inc.

The Education Centre Against Violence will deliver a nationally accredited Certificate IV in Aboriginal Family Health in Lismore throughout 2012, thanks to support from the Lismore Workers Club. The course is for Aboriginal workers only, and will run over 6 week-long study blocks here in Lismore from February – October 2012.

 Thank you to the hundreds of participants who attended our training in 2011. The number of courses on our 2011 Training Calendar grew from previous years, and with that, the administrative load did too. We endeavour at all times to process the training in an efficient and timely manner, but are aware that the current system no longer serves our needs.

This year, we are very excited to announce that we are introducing an On-Line registration program which is soon to be launched. It is still being tweaked, and has not yet been put on our server for your access – but when it is ready you will receive information about where to find it and how to use it.

Ballina TAFE campus will be offering the course Certificate 4 in Alcohol and Other Drug Work over 2 semesters in 2012.

Certificate IV in Aboriginal Family Health will run in Lismore in 2012.The Education Centre Against Violence has received a significant number of applications from this region and so has agreed to run their certificate IV in Aboriginal Family Health in Lismore throughout 2012. You are invited to attend a to attend a facilitated discussion on Engaging Families and Collaborative Practice. The workshop is open to all staff from Government and non-government organisations working with children and families on the Far North Coast. The event is offered free of charge but registration is required and numbers limited.  

Early Days Autistic Spectrum Disorder Workshops will be held in Tweed/Lismore in October. They are designed for parents and carers with a young child who has (or may have) an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Public speaker Peter Dhu will be running somw courses on public speaking soon and is also interested in  running some workshops in Ballina or Lismore in March - April 2012.

This seminar is a first for Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre, and for communities on the Tweed Coast. It is being organised by the facilitators of PBNC's Aspie Side by Side Social Support Groups (for families and young people), largely as a result of requests from group participants and from families who have linked in to the Northern Rivers Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Network.
