StandBy Response Service

The StandBy Response Service is a community-based postvention program delivered by Northern Rivers Social Development Council providing 24-hour response to friends, families, associates and communities bereaved by suicide. Suicide is a time of immense crisis and the tragedy of suicide loss can create trauma, deeply affecting individuals, families and entire communities. In many cases those bereaved do not know where to turn for help or how to find supports that may already exist. The Standby Response Service provides a reliable single point of service coordination and contact, offering respect, understanding and support for the health and well being of people bereaved by suicide, Call 0417 119298 - 24 hours 7 days per week

This course will appeal to those who are nervous or avoid public speaking AND for those who wish to communicate with greater depth, presence and authenticity whenever they speak in public, one-to-one and one to many. It’s on in Lismore on Wednesday, 16 September.

Cert IV Mental Health Courses

Mental Health Coordinating Council (MHCC) is running Cert IV courses: the first is the Cert IV in Mental Health and the second is the Certificate IV in Mental Health (CHC43315), culturally customised for Aboriginal Workers.

RAGE Training in M’bah

Youth Mental Health First Aid Workshop

Wesley LifeForce will be conducting a two-day Youth Mental Health First Aid Workshop at Lismore Workers Club – 231 Keen St, Lismore NSW 2480 on Thursday 3 September to Friday 4 September 2015 from 9 am – 5 pm. There is no charge to attend the workshop.

Court Skills Workshop

Going to court can be stressful for even the most experienced workers. However by preparing well before going to court, understanding the behavior that is expected in court and knowing how to respond in the best possible way to questions can reduce worker stress and ensure that information is put to the court in the most effective way possible. This course is on in Lismore on Thursday, 10th September.

Seminars: Bullying and Harrassment in the Workplace

Do you know what to do when there is bullying and harassment in your workplace? The Anti-Discrimination Board of NSW runs seminars addressing this issue and raising awareness of appropriate workplace behaviours; legal requirements for every workplace under the anti-dicrimination laws; and procedures and actions workplaces must take for managing conflict resolutions.

Supporting our Aboriginal youth: Identifying & understanding domestic violence

Course Description: Aboriginal young people are likely to be affected by being exposed to and witnessing domestic and family violence. The nature of the Aboriginal family environment means that young Aboriginal people have greater exposure to the impacts of trans-generational trauma including family violence and domestic violence. These experiences can set up an attitude of acceptable and normalised behaviours resulting in unhealthy relationships, greater exposure to the legal system, AOD problems, identity issues and low self-esteem and confidence.
