StandBy Response Service

The StandBy Response Service is a community-based postvention program delivered by Northern Rivers Social Development Council providing 24-hour response to friends, families, associates and communities bereaved by suicide. Suicide is a time of immense crisis and the tragedy of suicide loss can create trauma, deeply affecting individuals, families and entire communities. In many cases those bereaved do not know where to turn for help or how to find supports that may already exist. The Standby Response Service provides a reliable single point of service coordination and contact, offering respect, understanding and support for the health and well being of people bereaved by suicide, Call 0417 119298 - 24 hours 7 days per week

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) hosted by the North Coast Medicare Local (NCML) is on in Lismore and Coffs Harbour at the end of October. It is a full 2-day training course on responding to people with suicide behaviour or thoughts.

Leadership Powered Management

This class is specifically for managers and supervisors that lead a team of 3 or more, and is relevant to new as well as experienced managers. It’s on in Grafton on October 29.

Aged Care Fee Update Course

From 1 July 2014 there are significant changes to how and what residents will pay as an accommodation payment. This course in Ballina on 11 November will explain the new payment requirements.

Training Alert: Case Management Strategies for Aboriginal Clients

Working with Aboriginal clients is a one day practice based workshop specifically developed for non-Aboriginal people working in the community services sector to help them navigate the often complex Aboriginal kinship systems and explore some of the barriers to effective service delivery.

It’s at YWCA, 101a Rous Road, Goonellabah, Thurs 30th October 2014 – 9.30am - 4.30pm.

LGBTI Aged Care Training

This training is free of charge to participants and lunch is provided – it’s on Monday 3 November at Crowley Education Centre, Ballina, and November 6th in Tweed.

Domestic Violence Response Training

Free Professional Development Opportunity For Community Sector Workers

Lifeline is running a free accredited course in Domestic Violence Response Training (DV-alert) for health, allied health and community frontline workers who come in contact with people experiencing or at risk of domestic violence as part of their work. It will be held in Lismore on November 19th and 20th.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Lifeline Northern Rivers is offering a two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop in Ballina on November 4th and 5th 2014.

ASIST is a two-day workshop that prepares professionals, volunteers, and informal helpers of all kinds to provide suicide first-aid interventions to people at risk of suicide.

NSW Ombudsman Training Calendar July – December

The NSW Ombudsman offers a range of quality, affordable training workshops based on 38+ years of experience in assisting the public, government agencies and non-government organisations to improve their administrative conduct, decision-making and standards of service delivery.

The training is designed to help your organisation make the best possible use of limited resources, improve your service delivery, and develop a better understanding of your legislative obligations.

Volunteer Education

Volunteers who are supporting people in aged care, dementia care, or general community service are invited to attend a 3-hour interactive workshop designed to assist in their caring role. It’s on Thursday, 30th October in Banora Point.
