StandBy Response Service

The StandBy Response Service is a community-based postvention program delivered by Northern Rivers Social Development Council providing 24-hour response to friends, families, associates and communities bereaved by suicide. Suicide is a time of immense crisis and the tragedy of suicide loss can create trauma, deeply affecting individuals, families and entire communities. In many cases those bereaved do not know where to turn for help or how to find supports that may already exist. The Standby Response Service provides a reliable single point of service coordination and contact, offering respect, understanding and support for the health and well being of people bereaved by suicide, Call 0417 119298 - 24 hours 7 days per week

FREE DV Alert (DV Response) Training

For anyone who would like to complete DV Alert, the next available training on the North Coast is on the 17th & 18th February at South Grafton Ex-Services Club.

Training Alert: Restorative Care and Wellbeing

This half-day course is designed for you to gain knowledge and skills in how to enable people to enhance their own quality of life by using a wellness, reablement or restorative
approach (the NEW requirements in our Funding Agreements with government). It’s on Tuesday 15th December at YWCA, Goonellabah and is FREE CHSP funded workers Training.

Lifeline Northern Rivers Seeks Volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporters

Lifeline Northern Rivers is currently inviting applications from people interested in volunteering as Crisis Supporters on its 13 11 14 Telephone Crisis Line.  Successful applicants will be accepted on to Lifeline Northern Rivers’ next Crisis Supporter Workplace Training course which begins on Saturday 6 February 2016. Applications close on Friday 27 November 2015 at 5.00pm.

NSW Elder Abuse Training

The NSW Elder Abuse Helpline & Resource Unit has developed face-to-face training specifically for anyone who works directly with older people, and their managers: Improving Skills in Recognising and Responding to the Abuse of Older People.

There will be two workshops on Self Harm Prevention and Building Resilience in Nerang on December 3.

SMART Recovery Facilitator Training

North Coast Primary Health Network is well into the process of negotiating with SMART Recovery Australia to come to the Northern Rivers to run a number of training programs for Facilitators to enable them to run Smart Recovery groups in their local area.

One-day professional development training courses are available that are suitable for family services professionals working with children, youth and their families to resolve child and teenage behaviour problems.

Supporting our Aboriginal youth: Identifying & understanding domestic violence

Course Description: Aboriginal young people are likely to be affected by being exposed to and witnessing domestic and family violence. The nature of the Aboriginal family environment means that young Aboriginal people have greater exposure to the impacts of trans-generational trauma including family violence and domestic violence. These experiences can set up an attitude of acceptable and normalised behaviours resulting in unhealthy relationships, greater exposure to the legal system, AOD problems, identity issues and low self-esteem and confidence.
