The Transport Development Project (TDP) is a regional initiative to reduce transport disadvantage and improve access to affordable transport options for residents of the Northern Rivers.  The project aims to develop relevant, effective, affordable, publicly available and accessible transport services and infrastructure in the region.  The TDP is funded by the Transport New South Wales.


The Going Places website www.goingplaces org.au provides information on all forms of transport for the Ballina, Byron, Clarence, Kyogle, Lismore, Tweed and Richmond Valley local government areas. There are links to timetables and service provider websites as well as information about concession fares.

Cheaper longer distance travel on Buslines PDF Print E-mail

 Northern Rivers Buslines and Ballina Buslines have capped their fares at $9.40 as of January 2012.   This will make a significant difference to the hip pocket of people who travel on longer distance rural routes.

Opportunity for Feedback into new Long-Term Master Plan for Transport in NSW PDF Print E-mail

 The NSW Government is developing a new Long Term Transport Master Plan for NSW.  A discussion paper will be released in February, followed by a draft plan by mid-2012 and a consultation process that will include regional forums, a formal submission process and online feedback via a dedicated website. The online feedback component of the consultation process is open now.

IPART looks at rural bus fares PDF Print E-mail

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has released its determination on bus fares in rural and regional areas. On 1 January 2012, maximum fares for country town services will rise on average by 2.4%. Some fares will not change, but others will rise by between 10 cents and 60 cents for a single ticket. Country town services typically operate within the boundaries of towns with more than 7,500 people.
