Regional Community Services Development - Project Overview PDF Print E-mail

The Regional Community Services Development (RCSD) Project works to build and sustain the capacity of the social and community services sector through provision of advice and information, staff development, advocacy and policy development.  The project supports a range of agencies that provide direct and benevolent relief including, youth services, family support services, homelessness services, and other welfare agencies.

  • Production of a fortnightly newsletter for the social and community service sector in the region that is disseminated to over 600 recipients. The newsletter provides direct support to community service organisations by providing information on upcoming training (for both clients and staff), conferences, funding opportunities, research and reports and much more.  
  • Trailing of the Service 2 Service (S2S) an IT based service coordination system to assist older people and people with disabilities to access support services
  • Establishing and facilitating a community sector Finance Officer’s network to assist community agencies that provide direct and benevolent relief to better manage their financial operations.
  • Development of a regional homelessness strategy to increase and improve the number service providing direct services to homeless people.

The RCSD project has made significant progress on the identified regional social priority, housing. The Affordable Housing Solutions Forum has been a catalyst for increased activity in affordable housing in the region. In April 2006, the Centre for Affordable Housing commenced a number of information sessions across the region to increase local government awareness in affordable housing. The RCSD project was also largely responsible for the successful Area Assistance Scheme application for the funding of a three year Affordable Housing Development Project. This project aims to increase affordable housing in the region.

The new partnership with Infoxchange Australia provides NRSDC with additional resources to assist community services to improve service delivery with innovative internet-based tools. More information on the S2S Service Coordination and eReferral project can be found here.

Posting personal information

Please do not post personal details  about yourself or other people on the message board (i.e. do not post names, email addresses, phone numbers, or home addresses).  Our discussion boards are a forum for forum members only and are not viewable to the general public.  You should be aware that any personal information in message board postings  can be viewed by  all members of the forum.   This information can also be forwarded to other recipients.

Please refrain from mentioning details about individuals or organisations. Please keep in mind that YOU CAN BE HELD LEGALLY LIABLE FOR WHAT YOU WRITE. For example, if you post defamatory comments about someone or an organisation, you may be held legally accountable for them. 

Editing your posts

As a user of the discussion boards, you can go back to a message you have posted and edit your post, but it is not possible for you to delete it completely. Please respect others' views and opinions even if you do not necessarily agree with them. Users of the discussion boards must behave at all times with respect and honesty.

Unacceptable behaviour

You should refrain from inappropriate language on the discussion boards. Unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, obscene, threatening, harmful, profane, sexually orientated, racially offensive or otherwise objectionable material is not acceptable.

Intellectual property

You may not violate, plagiarise, or infringe on the rights of third parties including copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, personal, publicity, or proprietary rights. If such an event occurs, the individual posting the information shall be held solely responsible.  
 
Copying and pasting copyrighted material in a post is not allowed. Information or other copyright material that is owned by any individual or entity other than the member should not be posted on the message board without the consent of the owner. The Northern Rivers Social Development Council will not be held responsible for member-posted information that may violate copyright law.

The use of the discussion boards for gathering information for non Northern Rivers Social Development Council surveys or research studies is not allowed without prior permission of the Northern Rivers Social Development Council.

Moderators

The Northern Rivers Social Development Council discussion boards are moderated by staff of the Northern Rivers Social Development Council as well as other partner organisations. They check the boards  regularly and  may correct and/or remove any inappropriate messages. Our discussion boards employ an open format and all posts will automatically appear. However, if a post disregards our terms and conditions , or is otherwise considered inappropriate, the message will be deleted and the user may be banned without warning.

 If you fail to abide by these rules the moderators reserve the right to ban a user without warning. This decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to nor will the Northern Rivers Social Development Council be obliged to explain such a banning.

The Northern Rivers Social Development Council  adheres closely to the Privacy Act 1988, the Information Privacy Act 2000, and the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW)( or PPIP Act). Northern Rivers Social Development Council will  not share registration information with a third party outside of the Northern Rivers Social Development Council.
