Respite Coordination
Following the Far North Coast Respite Forum held in July 2007 a Working Party was established to develop and implement a more co-ordinated approach to respite provision, and address the issue of duplication of client information in providing respite services. This group of Respite Service Providers has met regularly at the end of 2007 and are now at the stage of trialling a new model of respite service co-ordination.Initial meetings of the designated 5 Local Respite Co-ordination Groups (LRCG) have been held across the FNC during November and December. Additionally, a data base and referral system has been developed (S2S) in conjunction with Infoxchange and will be trialled in conjunction with the project. Training sessions involving 30 participants took place on 5th and 6th December at Lismore TAFE, with a ‘go live’ date scheduled for late January 2008. This system of referral and service provider co-ordination represents a considerable change to service delivery for respite services on the Far North Coast. It is hoped that this will greatly reduce the need for client information duplication as well as provide accurate tracking of unmet need and appropriate service delivery. An evaluation of the project will take place in April 2008. Meanwhile, the members of the trial project look forward to positive outcomes and improvements in access and allocation for families and clients on the FNC. |
