Transport can be difficult when you are on wheels

 Manager of Northern Rivers Community Transport (NRCT), Colleen Thomas wants to remind people that NRCT can help people in wheelchairs with transport either through the WAV or with taxi vouchers (additional to TTSS) if needed. For ‘group’ pick-ups , NRCT's 'people mover’ can accommodate up to two wheelchairs, but make sure you get in early to enable Colleen to schedule things.

Family and Carer Mental Health Program

The Family and Carer Mental Health Program (FCMHP) in northern NSW provides a comprehensive range of free supports and services for families and carers of people with a mental illness. The program aims to ensure families and carers of people living with a mental illness receive appropriate support, information, education and skill development to fulfil their caring role, while maintaining their own health and wellbeing.

NRSDC responds to bus fare review

Submissions to the IPART Rural & Regional Bus Fares Review 2011 close this week. This review will determine the maximum bus fares that operators can charge for the next 12 months. The Northern Rivers has a high number of dispersed towns and villages and consequently a high need for people to travel between towns for appointments, education, social and medical reasons, but bus fares here are currently much higher than in metropolitan Sydney.
