This 3 hour education session will be given to Community Care workers. It will include
question and answer time.

The session will be free of charge on Wednesday the 8^th of February from 2 – 5pm.

The presenter is Deborah England; Parkinsons NSW educator and Parkinson’s specialist
counsellor. She is also a registered nurse. The presentation is for nurses, care workers,
AIN’s. We do not expect people with Parkinson’s to attend.

HACC Education

Your Client has Parkinson’s disease!

Aims and purpose of the presentation.

The Home and Community Care education is a two hour power point presentation
aimed at introducing Parkinson’s disease to community care workers. A
booklet titled ‘Your Client has Parkinson’s disease is in production and will be
provided to HACC staff who attend education sessions.

The topics covered will be

· So what is Parkinson’s disease?

· What causes Parkinson’s disease?

· Signs and Symptoms

· What treatments are available to people with Parkinson’s disease.

· Care considerations for people with Parkinson’s disease.

· How can you help?

· Mobility Issues.

· Tips for assisting the person with Parkinson’s disease in
maintaining their independence.

· What if your client falls.

· Swallowing problems.

· Things to think about when going to a PWP home.
