For an Introductory/Intermediate Audience

The Orientation to Community Care will provide those working or volunteering in the
home and Community Care sector with an overview of how HACC services are funded;
he new Community Care Common Standards and compliance requirements, and how
HACC services work within the broader Ageing & Disability setting.

  • The big picture of community care
  • The Commonwealth and State transition processes
  • Person Centred Approach
  • Consumer Directed Care
  • HACC services types
  • Networks & supports

Participant Learning Outcomes:

Participants will gain confidence in understanding how the home and community care sector works, what their responsibilities are as a service and how their service fits within the broader community care setting.  They will also leave with an understanding of the new Person-Centred approaches to Community Care.

The target group for this course is:

Managers, coordinators, direct care staff, volunteers and board members who are new to the Ageing & Disability community care sector.
