Northern Rivers Social Development Council has welcomed today
According to NRSDC President, Jenny Dowell, the Budget has brought forward property tax cuts that will undermine spending on front line services. "There has been some spending on new services, but hastily conceived tax cuts will take out $467 million dollars that could have been used to deliver the services and support that our community needs. The state Budget bottom line is much healthier than originally expected, so the time is right to invest in the community," Ms Dowell said. "NRSDC welcomes spending on Mental Health and Education that will honour election commitments, but much more could have been done," said Ms Dowell. "We are very disappointed that there is very little new funding for public dental health services. Budget papers show that an additional $4million dollars has been provided for emergency dental care across NSW, but this is a drop in the ocean, given that there are over 200,000 people on the dental health waiting list.
