There was magic in the air when 200 community sector workers gathered at Byron Community Centre on November 10 for a Ball and Awards Night to remember. For the second year in a row, the hard working staff from hundreds of community organisations on the North Coast were recognised and acknowledged for the amazing work they do in a glittering awards ceremony, emceed by the very funny Mandy Nolan. Congratulations to the following award winners who were announced on the night.
The magical Titania and Oberon won best dressed at the ball
During the ceremony, the audience was amazed by the acrobatic grace of Roue Cyr - the bearded man who used a very large hoop to perform seemingly effortless manoeuvres around the stage.
After the ceremony, fairy glitter dust and wings were in abundance on the dance floor as everyone grooved to the very danceable music of Soul'd. The best dressed at the ball prize was won by Titania and Oberon, but judging the best dressed was a hard task for judges Liz Page and Jenny Dowell, as the costumes were all out of this world and everyone put a huge amount of effort into their costumes to create characters out of the magical world of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Thanks to Light'n Up for the magical lanterns that lit up the venue, and to Eden Nursery Byron Bay for the colourful flower arrangements. This event would not have been possible without the support of other community service organisations, so a big thanks goes to all sponsors of the event.

With over 60 community service workers nominated in this year's Community Sector Ball Awards, the judges had a hard time choosing the winners in each award category. Congratulations to all nominees in each of the six categories - a full list of all nominees can be viewed here.
The 2012 Community Sector Ball and Awards Night was even more magical than last year's inaugural event where hundreds of community service workers dusted off their glass slippers and danced the night away.
The theme for this year's ball and awards night was A Midsummer Night's Dream, and over 200 community sector workers dressed in their best fancy dress making for a fun night of dinner, dancing and networking outside of the workplace!!
Many thanks go to to the sponsorsof this year's event whose support make this event possible!
