New Home-based Care Traineeships at BDCSA in 2009 PDF Print E-mail
Advocacy - Northern Rivers Vacancies

logoBDCSA has received funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing for a new traineeship program in home-based care. BDCSA will train these new workers in a strengths based approach to caring for older people and people with disabilities. This approach means working with people to maintain or regain their skills and independence in daily life.Paid care workers work with older people or people with disabilities in their homes, and at community service organisations or in nursing homes. People who are interested in attending a traineeship information session need to book a place by Monday 9 February by contacting BDCSA on 6686 7776.

While other industries are laying off workers in the current financial crisis, BDCSA is looking for people to commence a career in an industry that is experiencing a shortage of skilled workers. Paid care workers have become an essential part of aged care and disability services, and the community services workforce is one of the fastest growing sectors in Australia.

The rewards of care work are direct and immediate and few jobs can offer such strong positive feedback. On successful completion, trainees will achieve a nationally recognised Certificate qualification or a Statement of Attainment for units successfully completed. Traineeship Information Sessions will be held at BDCSA 32 Swift Street, Ballina on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 February from 10am – 3pm and lunch will be provided.
