Regional Development Australia - Northern Rivers recently launched the new Northern Rivers Regional Plan 2011. This new edition addresses many of the drivers, initiatives and programs that impact on our region. It accepts that we have great strengths, but that we also face significant challenges to our special heritage and lifestyle.

The new Plan sets out a vision for the future. It highlights the challenges and opportunities we face in Social, Environmental and Economic Development; and proposes desired outcomes for each.

Importantly, the Northern Rivers Regional Plan 2011 includes the set of Principles of Regional Significance that was created during the consultation program. These principles are intended to guide the development of new projects. Future proposals and funding applications will need to demonstrate their alignment with these principles to receive RDA-NR support.

A suite of companion documents accompany the Plan, including an update of the Regional Profile; a report on the outcomes of the consultation program; and the RDA-NR Action Plan 2011-12; which sets out how we will play our part in realising the Regional Plan during this year.
