What is myregion?  http://www.myregion.gov.au/content/explore   myregion is an Australian Government operated website designed to provide information based on Australia’s 55 Regional Development Australia regions and the three external territories of Christmas Island, Norfolk Island and the Cocos Keeling Islands. It provides opportunities for people to hold discussions within their communities and with all levels of government that help inform regional policies and national solutions.

myregion is an important commitment within the Australian Government’s regional alignment aimed at empowering each region and local community to be their best.

myregion will continue to be developed as a central place for Australians to explore, understand, discuss and influence the future of their regions.

Who is myregion for?

myregion is for all Australians. Every person in Australian lives in a region, whether in a remote community, rural town, regional city or major urban centre.

Using the Explore section of this site, you can view regional information. In the Participate section you can engage with your community and government in blogs and regional forums.

What will myregion include?

The website will present information on government-funded services, projects and on social, economic and population trends alongside opportunities for Australians to participate in active online discussions.

One of the important future improvements to the myregion site will be to provide details of Australian Government spending by geographic region.

The Government is developing a model to provide greater visibility of Government spending and service delivery in regional Australia. Once available, this information will be progressively included in myregion.

The myregion website will also progressively be extended with more useful information and features to help Australians better understand and discuss their regions, partially guided by the ideas you suggest.

Who manages the myregion website?

myregion has been developed and is being managed by the Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government.

The Department’s vision is to empower each region and local community to be its best.

This website helps fulfil this vision by providing communities with information about their region in an easy-to-use central location and supporting them to discuss regional issues and opportunities.

This is your website

This is the first release of the myregion website.

myregion will grow and develop as a result of your use of this website, your comments and ideas. We want myregion to support a genuine conversation between people in their communities and with governments, together contributing to the prosperity of regional Australia.

We need your participation to make this possible.
