The Positive Living in Aged Care Awards project aims to recognise residential aged care providers in NSW who are implementing strategies to promote a positive approach to the prevention and management of mental health conditions. Applications for the Positive Living in Aged Care Project Awards 2012 are now open. All Commonwealth funded residential aged care facilities (RACFs) in NSW are encouraged to apply. Applications close 29th June 2012.
The project developed through the NSW Older People’s Mental Health Working Group is funded by NSW Health and managed by the aged care peak body organisations, Aged and Community Services Association of NSW & ACT and Aged Care Association Australia – NSW. Aim of the project The Positive Living in Aged Care project aims to improve the quality of mental health and wellbeing of residents in residential aged care facilities, their friends, family, carers and staff. The objectives are to identify, showcase and promote innovative strategies which have measurable impacts. It intends to promote collaboration and partnerships with mental health and other specialist services, and among residential aged care services. Awards Six awards will be given across the three categories with a total of $45,000 in prize money. Applications are judged by a panel of industry experts and the awards will be presented on 3rd September 2012 at Luna Park, Sydney. Early bird applications The Project Officer for the Positive Living in Aged Care Awards is available to provide feedback on applications submitted by the 31st May 2012. This will provide applicants with the opportunity to follow up any areas which could be strengthened within the application. Who can apply The Positive Living in Aged Care Awards are open to all New South Wales RACFs receiving Commonwealth funding, that are currently operating the initiative at the time of application.
