The Kirra Hill Community and Cultural Centre on the Golld Coast is just about ready to open up for full community usage. It has been an exciting journey and the enthusiasm and contributions from a number of exceptional people and organisations has led to the creation of this very exciting and multifunctional (and particularly beautiful) space. All feedback from residents and from community organisations and service providers has shaped the spaces that are available and have set the overall intent for the facility. The Community reference group have set out a vision for the facility as one that: welcomes the whole community; that nurtures a sense of belonging through activities based on inclusion, respect and a commitment to honour the needs of the whole community in perpetuity. New discount structures are being applied to this and other new sites to improve the accessibility and affordability of these venues for activities and events that have community benefit purposes. Organisers are now at the stage where people can apply to have regular bookings at the centre (from July 1) and so we are going to hold three open days for interested groups and organisations to come up and see the finished facilities and take an application form away to apply for a time slot. The dates for the open days are: Monday 16 May - 12 - 5pm Wednesday 18 May - 8.30am - 2pm and Friday 27 May - 1 - 4.30pm Please feel free to forward to anyone who you think could be interested in utilising the centre.
